My previous post segues quite nicely into this one, in which I thought I'd go into a bit of the gadgets and gear I'm taking along. I know when researching for this trip that reading about what other people packed or used to get the footage they did was a great help, and saved me a considerable amount of further research. I also fondly recall on my last trip in 2008 talking about how my new phone for that trip was pretty special, in that it could "send and receive emails". Amazing! I'm sure I'll look back on this list in the not-too-distant future and laugh at how primitive this all this stuff is.

Travelling then and travelling now - for the better or for the worse?
I was talking with a middle-aged gentleman at work recently about my upcoming travels, and he mentioned that he undertook a similar expedition down the east coast of the US and into Central America when he was about my age, in the late 1970's.
We discussed the experiences he had and the places he saw, and most notably the pro's and con's of travelling then in comparison to travelling now. How do they compare?

Intro.
Greetings!
Just to give a small insight, this blog will be a collection of various anecdotes, recounts, stories, whatever you wish to call them, that occur throughout my time travelling over the next few months. I'm not quite sure how long these 'few months' will be. I've been telling people four to six months; I can't foresee it being too much longer or shorter than that, but who knows!
My main motivation for this blog is largely for my own enjoyment and for something to look back on fondly (and perhaps with a cringe), much like I look back over my previous blog from 2008. Regardless, I hope you enjoy reading at least partially as much as I will hopefully enjoy experiencing it. If I happen to pass on a handy bit of knowledge or travel inspiration, even better.
